Progressive metalcore up-and-comers from Adelaide LUMENS return with their third single, Hollow Heart, off their self-titled EP, which is set to debut on Friday April 11 via Wild Thing Records. LUMENS will celebrate their new EP live in Melbourne and Adelaide on May 30 and June 7 respectively. Tickets on sale Monday!

Hollow Heart is an emotionally charged descent unfolding the collapse of a relationship. With intense riffs followed by chaotic drumming sequences we move relentlessly through feelings of betrayal, desperation, and resilience before arriving at acceptance. The song’s unrelenting aggression mirrors the raw emotions of loss, while its solemn, earnest outro provides a sense of resolution, acknowledging that even in pain, there was once beauty. LUMENS balances chaos and catharsis, crafting a track that doesn’t just dwell in heartbreak but finds meaning beyond it.

“When relationships end, we tend to cling to the final moments, which are often tainted by the pain of their collapse, forgetting the beauty that once nourished them," says vocalist Rhys Jackson Stars. "Hollow Heart is a journey through both the suffering and the acceptance—remembering that not all was bad. It’s important to acknowledge the good, not just the pain, as we move forward.”

Hollow Heart follows the success of LUMENS previous singles In Too Deep and Primrose, both released earlier this year. Each track explores a different facet of the human experience , In Too Deep is a fierce critique of societal control and the forces that restrict personal freedom, while Primrose takes an introspective turn, delving into self-awareness, internal conflict, and the weight of personal expectations. Together, these singles set the stage for LUMEN's debut EP.

Since their explosive 2022 debut HNSN, LUMENS—Rhys Jackson Stars (vocals), George Carey (guitar), Henry Scott (bass), and Miles Sly (drums)—have rapidly gained momentum in the heavy music scene. Their unique sound and unrelenting energy have earned them national recognition, with placements on Spotify's Homegrown + Heavy and Fresh Finds Heavy, airplay on triple j, community radio, and triple j Unearthed rotation. They were also named a feature artist on triple j Unearthed. Primrose was selected as a ‘Track of the Week’ by PROG Magazine (UK), while triple j Unearthed’s Jerry Ijale Agbinya praised: "LUMENS are fast becoming one of my favorite heavy outfits coming out of Aus."

Making a name for themselves for their dynamic live performances, LUMENS combine blistering guitar solos, crushing breakdowns and soaring melodies with a raw intensity that captivates audiences. Their immersive live experience has earned them stage time with The Omnific, LUNE, Heartline, Signals and Harroway to name a few. If you're not already, this is a band you want to keep an eye on as they claw their way up the charts.
