He earned a Business Administration and Management degree from Fresno State University, which laid the foundation for his remarkable career in business strategy within the ever-changing world of music.
McFadden's career took off in 1975 when he joined EMI Music, where he spent an impressive 32 years shaping the company's success. During his time at EMI, he transitioned to Capitol Records, where he worked from 1997 to 2007. At Capitol, McFadden played an integral role in the careers of legendary artists like Paul McCartney, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Seger, Megadeth, Duran Duran, Radiohead, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters, and Coldplay, among others. He was also involved in high-profile campaigns for iconic artists such as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, and Nat King Cole.

After leaving Capitol Records, McFadden continued to innovate and contribute to the industry by founding his own independent business, The Hammer LLC. During this time, he consulted with Punch Andrews and Mike Boila of Hideout Records and Distributors to provide expert sales and marketing strategies for Bob Seger. McFadden’s next big venture came in 2007 when he collaborated with Coldplay on their groundbreaking Viva La Vida album and world tour, overseeing sales, marketing, and promotions, traveling the globe to ensure record-breaking success for the band. Before joining Better Noise Music, McFadden had already established himself as a key industry leader, serving as President of The Hammer Inc., LLC, and as Senior Vice President of Sales and Field Marketing at EMI Music and Capitol Records from 1985 to 2007. His tenure in these roles highlighted his expertise in navigating the commercial side of the music industry, always focusing on innovative marketing strategies and artist development.
In 2008, McFadden joined Better Noise Music, a leading independent rock label, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer. His partnership with Allen Kovac, the founder of Better Noise Music, spanned over 30 years and proved pivotal in transforming the label into a global powerhouse for rock and alternative music. At Better Noise, McFadden played a key role in the success of major artists such as Five Finger Death Punch, Mötley Crüe, Papa Roach, and The Hu. He was instrumental in the success of Buckcherry’s double-platinum album 15 and Mötley Crüe’s Saints of Los Angeles.
