Chloe Moriondo has been capturing hearts for many years. She started with soft ukuleles, yellow bedroom walls, and the iconic round glasses from her youtube days, then continued to grow into an indie-pop darling for Blood Bunny, before finally transitioning into this pre-brat bombshell during SUCKERPUNCH. Now, Moriondo is ready to take on a new aesthetic, washing back up onto the shores of the scene with blue mermaid imagery, and her new single, ‘shoreline’.
‘shoreline’ is a vulnerable track for Moriondo as it focuses on what she describes as “the most horrific breakup I've ever gone through” (via Tiktok). The lyrics appear to be a mix of directly learning about how to move on from the experience, whilst also reminiscing on the times you hold dearly to your heart, even after the damage is done. Within the pre-chorus, Moriondo sings “I miss you / Im bitter / But not all the time”, bringing in the very authentic, but generally not talked about feeling of this longing and hatred pairing that comes from needing to remove a person who had engraved themselves into your daily life. For Moriondo, this engraving was further complicated by the fact she is still intertwined with this person in a complicated way, including Moriondo having written songs about her ex. She’s gone on to comment, “shoreline’ is very near and dear to my heart. It encapsulates a lot of the feelings that came from my first big breakup, and I poured a lot of myself into it. I hope it’s gently loved ♡”

With ‘shoreline’ released, we’re given the opportunity to begin to picture what this next era will look like for Moriondo, both musically and aesthetically. The production, done by Chloe Kraemer (The Japanese House), appears to be a strong blend between what we’ve seen within the Blood Bunny era, alongside the softer digital elements featured on the backend of SUCKERPUNCH. This paired with the soft blue imagery and mermaid motifs, allows for an elegant atmosphere to be created; One that can easily be filled with Moriondo’s strong and captivating emotions, alongside softer and more playful tracks, allowing for a full range of Moriondo’s capabilities as an artist.
Alongside her new single, Moriondo has announced the dates of her North American Tour, 20 dates that span across the United States and Canada. It appears Moriondo is just as excited as fans to be back on the road, commenting “words can’t describe how difficult it’s been waiting to announce this.. it’s going to be insane and i can’t wait to see you again” (Via Instagram). Artist Presale for both general tickets and VIP packages begins Thursday at 10am local time, and General Sale is on Friday. As someone who’s seen Moriondo live before, this is definitely a tour you do not want to miss, she definitely knows how to put on a show.
