California Surf Punk band Sun Room delivers the high energy vibes to the Troubadour in Los Angeles

Sun Room is an up and coming band that the rock music scene desperately needs. The band is currently embarking on a West Coast tour which just made two stops in West Hollywood at the iconic Troubadour. Both nights sold out and it was jam packed with kids going nuts as the set carried on. With a ton of mosh-worthy songs in their discography and very little banter in between songs, the 60 minute set flew through like a breeze leaving many in attendance hungry for more.

Every song in that hour-long set absolutely hit, including hits like Crash My Bike, Sunset Garage, and Sol Del Sur. The beach bum like sound is something in rock music that is surely missed with many bands that carried that vibe in the past 5-10 years have all fizzled out all for various reasons. Nonetheless, here is a band that fills that hole perfectly, and hopefully opens the floodgates for more similar sounding bands to break through and build each other up as well.

The band consists of Luke Asgian (vocals and guitar), Ashton Minnich (guitar), Max Pinamoti (bass), and Thomas Rhodes (drums). Formed during the beginning of the pandemic, Sun Room has been on an upward trajectory that doesn’t seem to slow down anytime soon. After talking with many of their fans at this show, it seems that a big portion of their fanbase discovered them when they were a direct support act for Irish alt rock band Inhaler (including yours truly). They also received a support slot opening for Louis Tomlinson.

While this band has opened for valuable names like the ones just mentioned, they are soundwise an absolute breath of fresh air for a side of the music scene that currently lacks the energy of fast-paced high energy moshing and crowd surfing songs. Not only does this band have that, but they contrast it with a happy go lucky energy where there is not a single person in the room not smiling from left to right. They are truly a gem at the moment and am certain their massive growth is nothing but inevitable.
