björk's cornucopia: Talkhouse's First Film Project Get's Theatrical Release

Björk is one of the most innovative, influential, and iconic artists of her generation, being a name that you know even if you have not heard a single one of her projects. She’s always carried a strong-willed spirit when it comes to creation, consistently pushing the boundaries of music, technology, and activism within her work. Björk’s creative mind has weaved these groundbreaking movements in music, visual art, and performances, blending the three together to redefine what it means to be a performer in the current day and age, with her artistry being an inspiration to many.

To expand to her multiverse of media, Björk alongside co-executive producer Talkhouse have put together björk: cornucopia, a concert film of Björk’s most elaborate live performance to date. The theatrical release of the film project is in early May, spanning across 500 cinemas in over 25 countries, including but not limited to Australia, Canada, the US, and the UK, and will have different release dates depending on the country.

The film had a runtime of an hour thirty-nine minutes and will induce the additional screening of 3 music videos that have been curated by Björk herself. Alongside the opportunity to see Björk’s crafted visuals on the big screen in 4K, the film is audibly powered by Dolby Atmos in a cinematic environment, with the team behind the project ensuring an immersive experience for all- dedicated fans and newcomers alike.

“We’re excited to bring this iconic concert, produced in stunning 4k and Dolby Atmos, to cinemas for this global event. This is a rare opportunity for fans to come together for this unique immersive experience, with additional Björk music videos, on the big screen, and we can’t wait to share it with audiences everywhere” - Marc Allenby, CEO Trafalgar Releasing

Although Cornucopia’s vision came from Björk’s mind, she had an amazing team behind her to bring everything to life both onstage and in film. The striking visuals were shaped by James Merry, co-creative director of visuals, with original animation by Tobias Gremmler- and additional from Andrew Thomas Huang, Gabríela Friðriksdóttir, Pierre-Alain Giraud, Nick Knight, and Warren Du Preez & Nick Thornton-Jones.

Their expertise in visual artistry was melded together with Björk’s avant-garde musical style to create Cornucopia. Other notable names on the project is musical director and re-recording mixer Bergur Þórisson, cinematography courtesy of Artur Tort, and seamless editing by Walter Mauriot.
